President, Chief
Executive Officer and Director of NXA Mining Inc., a public company
engaged in mining exploration and development of gold and other
natural resources. Mr. Metcalfe brings many years of corporate
governance and business experience having been a senior partner at
the law firm of Lang Michener for 20 years, specializing in
corporate commercial law as well as major Canadian real estate
transactions and the financing thereof, followed by 7 years as
President and CEO of Armadale Properties Limited as well as General
Counsel and a director of the Sifton family Armadale Group of
Companies, with significant holdings in real estate, newspaper
publishing, radio and TV stations, technology, aviation (Toronto-Buttonville
Municipal Airport), automotive and financial services. As well he
has been a consultant and senior executive of ClubLink Corporation,
one of the largest golf and real estate development companies in
Canada.
Mr.
Metcalfe is an independent director of and member of the Audit and
Compensation Committees of Coalcorp Mining Inc., a publicly-listed
company with extensive coal properties in South America. In
addition, he serves on the board and is a member of the Audit
Committee of EnviroTower Inc., one of the leading companies in the
world in the water purification business. Mr. Metcalfe has served
on numerous boards including Canada Lands Company Limited, one of
the largest real estate development companies in Canada and a
self-financing federal Crown corporation which manages and/or
disposes of certain surplus federal lands throughout Canada; Radiant
Energy, a high-tech de-icing technology company in the aviation
industry; Faraday Resources/Uranium Inc.; and Spotnik Mobile Inc., a
subsidiary of Telus Corporation. He was a former court-affirmed
independent director of Hollinger Inc. and member of the Audit,
Compensation, Retraction and Governance Committees (2004-2005) and
subsequently during that period was appointed Executive Vice
President and Chief Operating Officer. He is a past Director and
Chairman of the CN Tower, the tallest free-standing structure in the
world.
