Seminar on Estate Planning and Investment Property - October 25, 2008

Metcalfe, Blainey & Burns LLP and London Life Insurance Company together hosted an informative seminar on Estate Planning and Investment Property which attracted an overwhelming audience of over 100 people at Ruby Chinese Restaurant on Saturday, October 25, 2008

Mr. Sammy Lee, senior partner of Metcalfe, Blainey & Burns, LLP shared his expertise on the use of trust in estate planning.

Ms. Iris Chung, associate lawyer of Metcalfe, Blainey & Burns, LLP was giving her speech on utilizing title ownership for accumulation of wealth.

Ms. Angela Chan, Financial Security Advisor of Freedom 55, a division of London Life Insurance Company was giving her speech on strategies for financial accumulation and inter-generational wealth transfer for both individuals and businesses.

Professionals Seminar - July 26, 2006

MBB recently sponsored the "5 Ways to Cut Taxes by Using a Family Trust within a Professional Corporation" Seminar organized by Choong and Associates on July 26, 2006. Mr. Sammy Lee gave a brief talk about income splitting and trusts. The seminar included information about tips on income splitting, family trusts and tax management under the Accumulation Act and Income Tax Act.

Home Buyers Seminar - May 12, 2005

Mr. Sammy Lee was honoured to be invited as guest speaker to the Home Buyers Seminar organized by the Toronto Chinese Business Association Junior Chapter and sponsered by Scotiabank on May 12, 2005. The seminar included information about tips on purchasing a home and financing, Tarion Warranty Corporation (formerly the Ontario New Home Warranty Program), title insurance and frauds relating to real estate transactions.

China Trip - 2005

The following are our achievements:

We have been retained by a group of businessmen to explore on the investment opportunity for a business park in New Brunswick, Canada, based on their knowledge and experience gained from their successful formation and management of a large industrial park in Shanghai

We have also been retained by a consultant group in Chengdu, China to provide services to business persons who intend to invest in Canada and the upcoming activities will include trade and exhibition as well as cultural exchange.

In Wuhan, we visited a group of successful Chinese medicine practitioners including acupuncturist, massage therapist and herbalist. We are exploring ways to promote the various conventional Chinese medical treatments to more Canadian

All of the above activities will be carried out by MBB Business Consultants Inc., an affiliated company to our law firm.

Mr. K. B. Ng, partner of our firm, being invited as a guest for ribbon cutting for the grand opening of Jacco (Ontario) Inc., a new extended office in Scarborough.

Immigration applicants granted permanent residence status within 1 year

Jointly with MBB Business Consultants Inc., Metcalfe, Blainey & Burns help potential applicants to submit immigration applications under New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program. Such successful applicants were interviewed and/or granted permanent residence status within one year. The Honorable Mayor of Saint John, New Brunswick has sent letter to Canadian Consulates in China to confirm her support to the Project.
